More than 5,700 Cal State LA students will graduate during Commencement 2024 on May 20 and May 21.
Commencement will feature six separate college-based ceremonies at the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center. More than 42,000 guests are expected to attend the events.
Graduating students will have their names called out as they cross the stage in front of their family and friends during the festivities.
“Graduation is the best time of the year. It marks the culmination of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, and celebrates the endless possibilities that lie ahead,” Cal State LA President Berenecea Johnson Eanes said. The ceremonies will be Eanes’ first Commencement as president of Cal State LA.
The California State University Board of Trustees appointed Eanes to serve as the ninth president of Cal State LA in fall 2023. Her tenure at the university began January 8, 2024. Eanes is the first woman to lead the university.
Eanes previously served as president of York College, where she provided strategic leadership and council to approximately 1,100 faculty, staff and administrators, while overseeing a $91M budget, including endowments, fundraising and centrally administered resources. Prior to her leadership at York College, she had served as vice president for Student Affairs at California State University, Fullerton.
Parking staff will direct all graduates and guests attending the Cal State LA Commencement to the West Hall parking garage. Entrances to this parking garage can be accessed from Pico Boulevard or L.A. Live Way. There are other garages and parking lots near and around the center, as well as public transportation available to get to the venue.
Friends and family of graduates can watch the livestream of each ceremony on the Cal State LA website and YouTube channel, starting with the first ceremony at 9 a.m. on May 20.
