Dear Golden Eagles,
First, let me acknowledge LGBTQIA+ Pride Month and thank all those who volunteered to join me in the parade or to work the student recruitment booth. We will be posting those photos and videos throughout the month.
Unfortunately, we have also seen escalating concerns over immigration enforcement actions and the presence of national forces across LA County. Cal State LA stands by our immigrant community and is continuing to monitor the situation.
At this time, we have no information that indicates Cal State LA is a specific target. With the majority of summer classes online, our operations are quieter than normal. Still, our Dreamer resources and services are available.
Please see the Cal State LA resource page here:Â https://www.calstatela.edu/immigration.
The system resource page is here:Â https://www.calstate.edu/attend/student-services/resources-for-undocumented-students.
Given the origins and close connection of Cal State LA to social justice movements and the immigrant experience, I expect many Golden Eagles will be making your voices heard. I ask that you please exercise caution and stay safe.
We are LA; and we stand in community.
Berenecea Johnson Eanes, Ph.D.
